Our History

MDS was founded in 1969, as Medical Data Sciences Limited, when five entrepreneurs and former IBM co-workers recognized an opportunity to provide business and systems support to health-care professionals.

In 1973, the acronym MDS was adopted as the Company began to expand into laboratory services and medical technology, and to serve global markets.

Growth at MDS has continued, fostered by the introduction of reliable, superior products and services, strategic acquisitions, and a reputation for industry-leading collaborative relationships.

On April 17, 2009, MDS Inc. celebrated the 40^th anniversary of its founding.
