In September 2008, and again in 2009, MDS Inc. was added to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World Index). The DJSI World Index recognizes companies that exhibit high levels of competence in addressing global and industry challenges in a variety of areas, such as economic, social and environmental performance.   

MDS joins 317 global sustainability leaders in 58 industries on the 2009 DJSI World Index, which includes a number of the world's most respected companies.

In June 2009, Corporate Knights, an independent Canadian-based media company that publishes the world's largest circulation magazine with an explicit focus on corporate responsibility, named MDS Inc. to its 8th Annual Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada ranking.

MDS Inc., which ranked ninth overall, was judged against citizenship indicators such as sustainable development innovation and responsible business and environmental practices. MDS in honored to be identified as one of Canada's leading corporate citizens by Corporate Knights.
